#News: Weight savings for electrical powered busses achieved by individual, travel route optimised battery modules

The Canton of Aargau is committed to climate protection. It focusses on electromobility in 2020.

ABB has opened a new factory in Baden Switzerland to produce battery modules, each with 48 battery cells inside. Between 10 to 60 such modules are combined to achieve a battery pack used in f.i. electrical powered busses. By individually adapting the power capacity to the required electric energy for specific bus routes, the overall weight of battery modules, typically in the range of 300 to 2000 kg, can be optimised and reduced. The Canton of Aargau supports this initiative with funding of CHF 1.5 Million for the first 4 electrobusses on the Baden Baldegg route.
